It was so good to see so many of you at the QAE auction on Friday night, what a fun event! Thanks so much to everyone who helped with the auction, I feel very fortunate to be part of a school community that values education so highly.
Periodically, as a class we will have days that go much differently than I have planned. Friday morning, I checked volunteer spot and realized we were without volunteers to help us make our visit to Queen Anne Manor. Thankfully, Cari sent out a desperate email and two volunteers quickly presented themselves. Thank you to everyone who responded and helped us make our monthly trip to the Manor. We had a great visit, complete with sunny weather and teaching the residents games we like to play in the classroom.
In class we have been working on making inferences in our reading. We have been working on this by using the prompt “What do YOU think and WHY?”. This has been challenging, inference is higher level thinking skill that requires us to really stop and think about what is happening in the story. We have read a variety of books to help us practice inferring, such as Alice the Fairy by David Shannon and Clementine by Sara Pennypacker. While you are reading this week at home, please help your student practice their inference skills.
Reminder
- We are almost out of Lysol wipes in the classroom, if you would like to bring some it, it would be greatly appreciated!
- Professional development for teachers on Friday-no school for students!
