I hope you have all enjoyed the three-day weekend. On Friday as a staff, we spent the day discussing the highlights of our PBL project. It was a great way to brainstorm, reflect and gear up for our next project. We will be starting our next project in spring; more details will follow, as we get closer.
This week, we spent a great deal of time focused on science. One of our big jobs this week was to figure out how to test the bounciness of different balls and figure out which balls were bouncier than other. We created a fair test with guidelines to ensure our results were accurate and could be retested by another scientist. I was a bit nervous turning the students loose in the classroom and halls with various bouncy balls, however, they were amazing! I could not believe how seriously they took their fair test and their job. Not one ball was out of control throughout the entire fair test. Way to go first grade scientists!
On a final note, we will begin winter MAP testing this Wednesday at 11:30. Please make sure your student gets a good nights sleep and eats a healthy breakfast this week and next.
Thank you,
Alicia
