This week we did two really exciting projects. On the first day of spring, I took a giant leap of faith as a teacher and told the class “We are taking the Ipads outside to document spring” Yikes! The students have been very safe with Ipads in the classroom; however, Ipads and cement are a scary thought for this teacher. The goal of the activity was to take our Ipads outside and take three to six pictures of how we knew it was spring. Everyone worked hard on documenting spring and were so calm and safe with their Ipads! We didn’t share our pictures with each other just yet. We came back to the classroom, selected the three best pictures and wrote about these pictures. Then students recorded themselves reading their writing into VoiceThread. VoiceThread is an app that allows people to speak about pictures they have selected and then comment to one another. Mr. Jeffery has set up a special first grade board for us to use. We learned how to upload our images, record and listen to our comments and how to comment back to one and other. We will be using VoiceThread throughout our birding project.
Below our pictures of our adventures outside with Ipads documenting spring!
We also continue to need cereal boxes-about 20 still so please keep sending them our way!
