Hello Families,
I would like to thank everyone for their patience and help with the website these last few weeks. Thankfully, all technical issues have been resolved and I will be blogging at least once weekly. This blog is where I will post the weekly newsletter so please subscribe to the feed burner to be kept up to date.
We made it through the first full week successfully, all the students handled the week very well. We have continued to work on building our stamina in reading, today we all read for 16 minutes! During our read to self time, students can read a book three ways: 1. Read the pictures 2. Read the words 3. Retell the stories. It is so thrilling to walk around the room and see all students actively engaged in their books. Great work first graders! In math workshop, we have been working on choosing different math games that focus on ordering and recognizing numbers and playing various games with number lines. In writing, we have been making sure we are using both our pictures and our words to tell our stories, just like real authors and illustrators. During our class meetings, we are working on giving compliments to each other and beginning to come up with class jobs we may need. Finally, we ended out week with an exciting visit from our fourth grade reading buddies. We will be getting together weekly to read with our fourth grade friends.
