On Thursday, we hopped on school buses and went to Seward Park to learn about habitat. We also got see a bald eagle’s nest and a bald eagle! The highlight of the trip was a fun reenactment of the life cycle with props!
On Friday, we decided to practice our newfound birding skills on our walk to Queen Anne Manor. I wasn’t expecting that we would see many birds but we saw 4 different types! We spotted an Anna’s Humming bird, American Crows, a Blackcap Chickadee and a bird we later identified as a House Finch. Room 137’s bird list is off to an impressive start! While at the Manor, we got to write poetry with the residents, it was a great way to share our writing skills with our friends at the Manor.
This week, we will continue to dive deeper into our bird project. Below is a link to videos we are using in the classroom.
